Who We Are
Unisphere, Inc. is a private non-profit corporation that was formed in 2003 to help transform Flushing Meadows Corona Park into a model for urban parks nationwide.
Flushing Meadows Corona Park is one of the loveliest urban parks in the world. Each year millions of people visit. Also, every day in summer and spring, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, known for its large globe or Unisphere attracts neighborhood residents and far-away residents who hail from over forty countries. With 1,255 acres of meadows and lakes, Flushing Meadows Corona Park is the second largest park in New York City and is home to the Queens Museum of Art, the New York Hall of Science, Shea Stadium, the Queens Theatre in the Park, the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the Queens Wildlife Center and the Botanical Garden. It is also the site of the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs, and has the largest concentration of sports, recreational facilities and cultural institutions of any park in New York. Unisphere, Inc. was formed to help the park raise funds to bolster and expand the current programs that are offered in the park.
